The Accounting and Auditing Regulator (ACAR), a body under the non-Bank Financial Services Authority (FSA), recently hosted a significant workshop in Phnom Penh to bolster compliance with accounting and auditing standards across Cambodia. Held on January 13, the event brought together approximately 200 representatives from various enterprises and not-for-profit entities, all keen on enhancing their understanding and adherence to the nation's financial regulations.
Nean Bony, the Deputy Director General of ACAR, presided over the workshop, which was specifically themed "Current Obligations of Accounting and Auditing and Related Regulations." This focus underscored the urgency and importance of keeping abreast of the evolving regulatory landscape in Cambodia. The primary objective of the session, as stated in an ACAR announcement, was to disseminate crucial information regarding key regulations and obligations. This included a comprehensive overview of current accounting and auditing requirements, best professional practices within the sector, and an in-depth look at prevailing accounting standards.
A particularly vital aspect covered was the procedure for submitting financial statements through the E-Filing online system. This digital submission method represents a modern approach to streamline processes and enhance efficiency in financial reporting. Throughout the discussions, officials emphasized the foundational role of strong financial reporting and robust compliance mechanisms. They highlighted that these elements are not merely procedural necessities but are, in fact, crucial drivers for fostering investor confidence, stimulating enterprise growth, and ultimately reinforcing Cambodia’s broader economic stability and transparency. The workshop served as a critical platform to educate and empower organizations, ensuring a more compliant and transparent financial ecosystem in the country.
